Mixed-media artist Jefferson Nelson explores themes of both “beauty and devastation” in his work. The Liberty Center, Ohio resident earned a bachelor’s in studio art from Bluffton University in 1999, and a master of fine arts in sculpture from State University of New York at Albany in 2004. His work has been shown in exhibitions in both Toledo and New York City. Nelson recently spoke at TEDxToledo on the similarities between being an artist and a parent in a speech titled “Autonomy Over Profit,” stressing the importance of devoting oneself to a passion without regard for financial gain.
